Backlash: Gen Y disputes Naomi Wolf's opinion

Loved this recent editorial in the Washington Post by a very smart Gen Y student (Rob Anderson).

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/27/AR2007112702221.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

He is upset by how author Naomi Wolf is attacking his generation and charging that young people are not politically active enough. Anderson is right. Wolf is wrong.

I disagree with your assessment that Anderson is right and Wolf is wrong. They are BOTH idealizing their generation's activism and supporting it with anecdotal evidence.

Both sound like exactly what every incoming generation has always heard from the incumbent generation and what the incumbents always think about the newcomers. Neither goes through the trouble of trying to figure out why they actually feel the way they do or the social/economic/political/etc. events that shaped the other generations.
