As someone who deplores the saying "40 is the new 30," I must say I am dumbfounded to find out that 40 is actually the new 30.It turns out a group of Austrian scientists say that middle age is starting later, because people are living longer. They are measuring your lifestage based on how many years you have left to live, rather than how many you have already lived.
For Americans, that means:
"Five years ago, the average American was 35.3 years old and could plan for 43.5 more years of life. By 2050, the researchers estimate it will increase to 41.7 years and 45.8 future years."

The photo was meant to show someone who is trying to be younger than they are (plastic surgery) - and failing.
