Gratitude and giggles

I just wanted to thank everyone who commented on my last post. That's a new record for me. To the Xers that posted: Since we are a smaller cohort, it's great to connect with you all (I know a lot of us do the smile-and-nod when these discussions come at work because there often is only a handful of Xers around).

I also wanted to share this cartoon with you that Kathy sent to me. I'm sure it may annoy some - but that's what makes blogging so fun.

“The Children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for adults, and love to talk rather than work or exercise. They no longer rise when adults enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter in front of company, gobble down food at the table and intimidate their teachers.”
-Socrates (469-399 B.C.)

Thanks for the cartoon. I am wondering what generational Archetype Socrates was talking about in that quote. Kinda sounds like Prophet (Boomers are our latest example of that archetype). More talk than doing. Socrates sure sounds like part of the establishment (Hero) as well. I always like Socrates.

@Dave
I almost wonder if Socrates would the Artist archetype.

In regards to the cartoon....Where I work we're interviewing candidates for our academic program. We require 3 letters of recommendation. The most common weakness I see listed for our candidates is age (meaning young). Hmmm.....I wonder who's writing these letters......

Yeah, Socrates probably was Artist. Plato was definitely a Prophet (wanted to run the world but never managed to make it happen). Aristotle would have been Nomad (very practical). I guess there were no Hero's in that bunch :-)
